NEPAL VISA INFORMATION

Visa to Nepal

It is very easy to get Nepali visa. People of any country can get visa upon arrival at Kathmandu international airport but they just have to have 6 months valid passport and two passport size photographs with a light background. Visa can be obtained only through payment of cash in the following currency : Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US dollar, Australian dollar, Canadian dollar, Hong-kong dollar, Singapore dollar and Japanese Yen.
Credit Card, Indian currency or Nepalese currency are not accepted for payment of Visa fee.
However, national of following countries given below cannot get visa on arrival at Immigration entry points of Nepal:

  2. Ghana
  3. Zimbabwe
  4. Swaziland
  5. Cameroon
  6. Somalia
  7. Liberia
  8. Ethiopia
  9. Iraq
  10. Palestine
  11. Afghanistan
  12. Syria
  13. Refugees with travel document

They need to obtain visa from Nepalese Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries prior to their visit to Nepal. Rest of all national can get visa on arrival. Visa fee for Non SAARC national is given as below:

SAARC National need not to pay visa fee on arrival which is free called Gratis Visa. For first visit in one visa year (January to December) , gratis visa for 30 days is available only for nationals of South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, visa can be extended from the Immigration Department on payment of visa fee as specified above.
Children below 10 years don’t need to pay visa fee.

FOR INDIAN NATIONALS

Indian national’s don’t require visa to enter into Nepal. As per the Nepalese Immigration, Indian Nationals Traveling to Nepal must possess any One of the following documents:
1. Passport
2. Driving License with photo
3. Photo Identity card issued by a Government Agency
4. Ration Card with Photo
5. Election Commission Card with Photo
6. Identity Card issued by Embassy of India in Kathmandu
7. Identity Card with Photo issued by Sub- Divisional Magistrate or any other officials above his rank
However, please check with your nearest travel agents for documents required by the Indian Immigration for Indians traveling to Nepal.

Tourist visa

  1. The foreign tourist visiting Nepal shall be granted the tourist visa.
    2. The tourist visa shall be granted for a period in maximum of 150 days in a visa year (Visa years means January to December).
    3. A tourist who has departed before the expiry of the period specified in the visa issued in a visa year shall not be allowed to use the visa by adding the remaining period to another visa year.
    4. If any foreigner who has entered into Nepal towards the end of a visa year desires to spend even the period during which he may stay in Nepal with the tourist visa of the other visa year, he may use such facility.
